According to information released by the World Iron and Steel Association on February 1, crude steel production in 64 countries or regions was 1.831.5 billion tons in 2022, down 4.3 percent year on year.

In December 2022, the crude steel output of 64 countries or regions included in the statistics of the World Steel Association was 140.7 million tons, down 10.8 percent year on year.

Crude steel production in Africa was 1.1 million tons in December, down 8.9% year on year. Crude steel output in Asia and Oceania was 104.9 million tons, down 9.2% year on year; Crude steel production in the EU (27) was 9.2 million tonnes, down 16.7% year-on-year. Crude steel production in other European countries was 3.4 million tons, down 19.2 percent year on year. Crude steel production in the Middle East was 3.7 million tons, up 0.4% year on year; North American crude steel production was 8.8 million tons, down 9.9% year on year; Crude steel output from Russia and other CIS countries plus Ukraine was 6.2 million tons, down 28.4% year on year; Crude steel production in South America was 3.3 million tons, down 3.8 percent year on year.

In December 2022,

China’s crude steel output was 77.89 million tons, down 9.8% year on year;

India’s crude steel output was 10.6 million tonnes, up 0.8% year-on-year;

Crude steel production in Japan was 6.9 million tons, down 13.1 percent year on year;

Us crude steel production was 6.5 million tonnes, down 8.3% year on year;

Russian crude steel production is estimated at 5.5 million tons, down 11.3% year on year;

Crude steel production in South Korea was 5.2 million tons, down 11.6 percent year on year;

German crude steel production was 2.7 million tons, down 14.6 percent year on year;

Turkey’s crude steel production was 2.7 million tons, down 20.0% year on year;

Crude steel production in Brazil was 2.5m tonnes, down 5.2% year on year;

Iran produced 2.7 million tons of crude steel, up 3.3 percent year on year.
